곽철안은 나무와 금속을 구부리고 매듭지어 유기적 형태의 가구와 조형물을 제작합니다. 붓글씨의 예술적 조형미를 의자 등의 가구로 재구성한 그는 붓을 들어 한지에 글을 쓰는 순간 입체가 평면으로 바뀌는 지점에 착안해 물질을 감각적으로 형태화시킵니다.
Chulan Kwak bends and knots wood and metals to create furniture and sculptures in organic form. He reconstructs the sculptural aesthetics of Korean Calligraphy in the form of furniture such as chairs. As he observes calligraphy’s turning point from flatness to a spatial dimension as the brush meets the paper, Kwak sensuously turns the materials into a sculptural form.
